Hallo, friends! Welcome to Rock Hard Spain
hails to you...
1.First of all,
congratulations for "The Gathering Wilderness". Could you explain us
briefly all the process of the album, how many time have you been
working in studio, composing the songs, etc. the story behind the
album?
Thank you. after
storm before calm we did a few tours and that kind of thing and only
really started putting together the new album at the start of last
year in 2004. we don't rush things and slowly but surely we put things
together. we spent something between three and four weeks in the
studio in the end. the story ?. its the usual story of long nights,
not much sleep and stress !.
2.Do you feel
satisfied with the job of Billy Anderson as a producer?
Yeah he's a crazy
intense guy and what we wanted was a much more live and raw sound.
something like standing in our rehearsal room. and I think we
definitely got that. we needed to change things around and challenge
ourselves after so many years. some people may find the change
difficult in the beginning if they are used to the sound on journeys
end or something but its all part of the same journey so just let the
band take you...
3.Maybe this is the
first time that Spanish audience have the chance to know your music,
but is this album very diferent from previous staff? In that case in
what way?
Well we've played
in Spain 4 or 5 times over the years since 99 and I've done interviews
there before. but I don't know how we do there. I heard it was ok?. so
who knows. however each album is a different chapter in the same book.
we don't repeat ourselves but we don't stray too far from our
trademark style. this one wont disappoint people already into the
band. as for people who don't know us ?. if you want something
original in today's scene then I would
advise primordial.
4.You are existing
since 1987, but always with many internal problems and many line up
changes. Why?
Not really to be
honest. the biography is kinda misleading. ok the guys started out
playing together as kids together in 1987 and 88 and they did record a
very primitive death metal demo in 88. I joined the band in 91 and we
had one drummer change in 1997 and one guitarist change in 2000 but
the core of the band has been the same for now 14 years !. there's
always been problems but what can you do about that but stand up to
anything thrown at you.
5. Do you think
this line up will be more stable?
See above mate !.
there really hasn't been that many changes
6. Coming From Ireland, I have to ask for your opinion about two great
figures of Ireland in the History Of Rock: Thin Lizzy and Rory
Gallagher. Do you like them?
Yeah sure. we are all big thin lizzy fans and Rory Gallagher is great
as well. both pretty honest and passionate Irish music. just like what
we are trying to do !...
7. Will you film any video-clip for any song of the album?
We have talked about it and it might be possible but you know the
songs are so long I'm not sure who would show them and we couldn't
really edit a song.
however I have lots of ideas so hopefully it will work out.
8. What are your
plans in relation with the live shows?
There is lots of
talk about shows here and there but nothing is concrete at the moment.
we will surely be on some kind of tour this year for the album. would
be cool to headline and do also an acoustic show but I don't think we
are big enough yet for that.
9. Any more to add
for Spanish metalheads?
nothing more really only then that's for your support. if you see
yourself as an individual then you will see yourself in primordial !.
see you on the field of battle
